Michael Bourlakis

Michael Bourlakis is a Professor in Supply Chain Management based at Brunel University Business School (U.K.). He graduated with a B.Sc. in Business Administration from Athens University of Economics and Business (Greece) and completed both his MBA and PhD degrees at University of Edinburgh (U.K.). Michael has worked at Leicester University Management Centre (U.K.), Oxford University (Oxford Institute of Retail Management, U.K.), Newcastle University (U.K.), and University of Kent Business School (U.K.). He has produced more than 150 publications including journal papers, book chapters, and conference papers. His papers have appeared in leading supply chain management, marketing and business journals such as, inter alia, Supply Chain Management: An International Journal, International Journal of Logistics: Research & Applications, International Journal of Logistics Management, European Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Management, Journal of Business & Industrial Marketing, Environment & Planning D, and Technological Forecasting and Social Change. He has received funding in excess of £600,000 from various bodies including the European Union, Food Standards Agency (UK), Regional Development Agencies (UK), and Technology Strategy Board (U.K.). Michael is on the Editorial Board of seven journals (Supply Chain Management: An International Journal, Journal of Chain & Network Science, British Food Journal, International Journal on Food System Dynamics, International Journal of Economic Sciences & Applied Research, International Journal of Co-operative Management, International Journal of Business Science and Applied Management). Professor Bourlakis is also a scientific member of various Conference Committees including the Colloquium on European Retail Research and the International Conference on Supply Chains. In the past, he has been a Chair of the Organising Committee of the 11th Logistics Research Network Conference (Newcastle University, 2006, U.K.) and of the European Logistics Association Doctorate Workshop (Germany, 2007). Finally, he is a member of the European Technology Platform (Food for Life, European Union) and of the Academic Committee of the Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport (CILT, UK).
