What is Model-Driven Architecture (MDA)

An initiative of the OMG for the development of software systems based on the separation of business and application logic from underlying platform technologies.

The term is used to define a new way of writing specifications, based on a platform-independent model. A complete MDA specification includes a platform-independent base model, and possibly one or more platform-specific models and interface definition sets, each describing how the base model is implemented.
