Description

The Journal of Database Management (JDM) publishes original research on all aspects of database management, systems analysis and design, and software engineering. The primary mission of JDM is to be instrumental in the improvement and development of theory and practice related to information technology and management of information resources. The journal is targeted at both academic researchers and practicing IT professionals.

Topics Covered

The Journal of Database Management (JDM) publishes three types of rigorous and high quality articles: research articles, research notes, and research reviews. Research articles are full innovative findings that make substantial theoretical and empirical contributions to knowledge in the field by using various theoretical and methodological approaches. Research notes are novel and complete but not as comprehensive as full research articles; they include exploratory studies and methodological articles. Research reviews are insightful and carefully crafted articles that conceptualize research areas, synthesize previous innovative findings, advance the understanding of the field, and identify and develop future research directions. Authors are welcome to submit manuscripts that qualify for any of the three categories.

Editor(s)-in-Chief Biography

Keng Siau is the Chair of the Department of Business and Information Technology at the Missouri University of Science and Technology. He received his Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of British Columbia in 1996. His M.Sc. and B.Sc. (honors) degrees are in Computer and Information Sciences from the National University of Singapore. The University of British Columbia and the National University of Singapore are consistently ranked as two of the top 50 universities in the world (e.g., U.S. News & World Report, QS World University Rankings, Times Higher Education World University Rankings).

Prior to joining the Missouri University of Science and Technology in June 2012, he was the Edwin J. Faulkner Chair Professor and Full Professor of Management at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL). He was also the Director of the UNL-IBM Global Innovation Hub.

Professor Siau is the Vice President of Education for the Association for Information Systems (AIS) and serves on the Board of Partnership for Advancing Computing Education (PACE). He is also the Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Database Management, North America Regional Editor for the Requirements Engineering journal, and Co-Editor-in-Chief for the Advances in Database Research series.

Professor Siau has more than 250 academic publications. According to the ISI Web of Science and Google Scholar, he has more than 1700 and 5500 citation counts respectively. His h-index, according to Harzing's Publish or Perish, is 38. In 2011, he was ranked as one of the top researchers in his field based on h-index and productivity rate. In 2006, he was ranked as one of the top ten e-commerce researchers in the world (Arithmetic Rank of 7, Geometric Rank of 3). In 2006, the citation count for his paper "Building Customer Trust in Mobile Commerce" is ranked in the top 1% within the field as reported by Essential Science Indicators. His research has been funded by NSF, IBM, and other IT organizations.

Professor Siau has received numerous teaching, research, service, and leadership awards. He received the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Distinguished Teaching Award and the College of Business Administration Distinguished Teaching Award in 2001. He was awarded the Organizational Leadership Award in 2000 and the Outstanding Leader Award in 2004 by the Information Resources Management Association. He received the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Business Administration Research Award in 2005. He is a recipient of the prestigious International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) Outstanding Service Award in 2006, the IBM Faculty Awards in 2006 and 2008, and the IBM Faculty Innovation Award in 2010.
