"Google can bring you back 100,000 answers. A librarian can bring you back the right one.”
–Neil Gaiman

Librarians are one of the most important resources in a library – they often have the incredibly important charge of maintaining a healthy collection and finding valuable materials and content for their institution's programs, faculty, and students. Librarians communicate with administrators, constantly assess needs and wants, and often seek new ways to meet those needs and wants. Essentially, librarians do all they can to bring back the “right answers”.

Given the valuable insight academic librarians have from their day-to-day interaction and communication with their community, many academic publishers enlist the assistance of a library board – library boards can provide guidance and recommendations regarding issues relating to relationship-building, product development, marketing to libraries, and other mutual topics of interest.

Communication is key when it comes to successful collaboration. As with many things, this is true within any industry, including the world of academic publishing.

The IGI Global Library Advisory Committee (LAC) is composed of well-informed individuals with strong opinions, who are active members of their library associations and maintain an organizational perspective as a leader in their library community.

Committee members provide insight on topics including our book and journal content, database platforms, emerging trends, and the overall needs of academic and corporate library communities.
