IGI Global Attends the 2016 Annual Charleston Conference

IGI Global's Academic Librarian Sponsorship ProgramThe Charleston Conference, held each year in historic downtown Charleston, South Carolina, is an opportunity for librarians to discuss issues concerning book and serial acquisition. IGI Global recently attended the 36th Annual Charleston Conference, which focused on the theme, "Roll with the Times, or the Times Roll Over You".

This year’s conference was held from October 31st through November 5th, hosting an audience of over 1600 professionals interested in all areas of collection development and acquisitions, including paraprofessional staff and library directors; admin and CEOs. Representing IGI Global at the event was E-Resources and Consortia Relations Manager, Jackie Ricords.

"The Charleston Conference this year was outstanding, with many opportunities for libraries and publishers to collaborate. By participating in the Vendor Showcase, attending sessions, and sharing case studies of database customers during our Lively Lunch on Friday, IGI Global was able to participate fully in the week-long conference," Jackie said.

The conference's Vendor Showcase presents a great opportunity where publishers and service providers are available to discuss new content offerings and products. After the Showcase, both vendors and attendees are then able to spend several days meeting and attending sessions dedicated to discussing issues within the industry. Librarians and conference attendees at the showcase were most interested in IGI Global's new Research Insights book collection, also discussing hot topics such as print to e-book conversions, library-publisher collaborations, the importance of usage, and the new COUNTER5.

IGI Global is a diamond-level sponsor of the Charleston Conference, and a proud supporter of librarian and industry education and knowledge-sharing. In addition to being a diamond-level sponsor, IGI Global again sponsored this year's official Charleston Conference totes and a $500 Academic Librarian Sponsorship. By providing one attendee with financial support to assist with costs associated with attending key industry events, the ALS program is IGI Global’s ongoing effort to help librarians grow professionally and increase their understanding of the changing state of knowledge resources.

This year's $500 Academic Librarian Sponsorship was awarded to the University of Southern California's Collection Assessment Librarian Caroline Muglia.
