IGI Global Now Offers COUNTER’s Version 4.1FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

September 23, Hershey, PA – IGI Global is proud to offer institutional usage reports using COUNTER’s new schema, Version 4.1, featured in conjunction with the Schemas for the Standardized Usage Statistics Harvesting Initiative (SUSHI).

Schemas for the Standardized Usage Statistics Harvesting Initiative (SUSHI) is an ANSI/NISO standard that defines the automated request and response model for harvesting e-resource usage data. Designed to work with COUNTER, the most frequently retrieved usage reports, SUSHI replaces time-consuming user-mediated collection of usage data reports. IGI Global users can take part in a protocol that is generalized and extensible, meaning it can be used to retrieve a variety of usage reports.

IGI Global offers the following COUNTER 4 reports:
  • Journal Report 1 – Number of Successful Full-Text Article Requests by Month and Journal
  • Journal Report 5 – Number of Successful Full-Text Article Requests by Year-of-Publication (YOP) and Journal
  • Book Report 2 – Number of Successful Section Requests by Month and Title
  • Platform Report 1 – Total Searches, Result Clicks and Record Views by Month and Platform
In addition to COUNTER 4 reports, IGI Global still maintains COUNTER 3 reports for institutions that do not have the ability to process COUNTER 4 compliant reports.

All COUNTER reports can be run at any point in time, allowing librarians to perform real-time analysis of their patron’s usage patterns. By also providing the ability to run reports spanning any time frame, librarians are given the power to easily perform analytical reporting over several years’ worth of data. All COUNTER reports are available from IGI Global’s Librarian Corner, which provides the librarian with a variety of tools including MARC Record retrieval, Persistent URLs, and more.
