Listen to Dr. Hartlep's Recent Radio Interview on the Modern Minority StereotypeDr. Nicholas D. Hartlep, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Educational Foundations at Illinois State University, recently took a moment to speak with Willis Kern of WGLT radio station 89.1 FM, the National Public Radio affiliate licensed to Illinois State University.

In the broadcast, Dr. Hartlep speaks on television's portrayal of Asian-Americans today and how stereotypes affect people of all races. This talk is centered around Dr. Hartlep's recent IGI Global title, Modern Societal Impacts of the Model Minority Stereotype, a reference source featured in the Research Essentials Collection.

The Model Minority Stereotype is a form of racism that targets Asians and Asian-Americans, portraying this group as consistently hard-working and academically successful. Rooted in media portrayal and reinforcement, the model minority stereotype has tremendous social, ethical, and psychological implications. Listen to the interview here:
