Contributors explore the threats of malicious intent (cyber warfare) that were largely unseen prior to the expansion of the Internet. Noteworthy is the importance placed on the international perspective and on the premise that geography and logistics no longer present a barrier to attacks. Authors argue that governments and citizens must prepare security solutions for new, unprecedented levels of national-security risk. The handbook begins with an extensive review of cyber warfare in civil society, and the 21 chapters aimed at researchers, experts, and legislators that follow present proposals on effecting change and managing risk.
