Self-Organization and Green Applications in Cognitive Radio Networks, edited by Anwer Al-Dulaimi (Brunel University, UK), John Cosmas (Brunel University, UK) and Abbas Mohammed (Blekinge Institute of Technology, Sweden), provides recent research on the developments of efficient cognitive network topology. The most current procedures and results are presented to demonstrate how developments in this area can reduce complications, confusion, and even costs. The book also identifies future challenges that are predicted to arrive in the Cognitive Radio Network along with potential solutions. This innovative publication is unique because it suggests green, energy efficient and cost efficient resolutions to the inevitable challenges in the network.

The WUN Cognitive Collective Consortium, established in 2008, consists of more than 85 academic institutions and industrial members from Europe, North America, Asia and Australasia. The Consortium plays a leading role in Cognitive Communications research through global collaboration. Cognitive communications promises to revolutionize the way wireless communication devices and networks behave through ‘intelligent’ assignment of resources and operation. The 2013 awards are the third annual set, any technical paper on Cognitive Communications published in the last five years was eligible.
