Do You Work For A Self-Centered Leader? Most people will work for a bad boss at some point in their lives, or at least interact with someone in a leadership role who is miss-managing their position. And though leadership is the driving force behind innovation, the term "boss" is typically looked at in a negative light, accompanied with a barrage of stereotypes associated with order-barking slave drivers. But what defines an actual "bad boss," and, more importantly, do you have one?

In the Entrepreneur article The 8 Signs of a Bad Leader, author Bernard Marr points out several identifying traits that denote bad leadership. Some red flags include bosses who have a lack of empathy toward employees, poor judges of character, and leaders who either won't compromise or are too willing to. Other unfavorable traits include the inability to balance life and work, resulting in burned-out employees, and a lack of humility in dealing with staff.

The IGI Global article "Leadership, Collective Efficacy and Team Performance: A New Paradigm for the Next Generation" examines the effects of leadership qualities on the collective efficacy of a group of members of Generation Next, and the interrelation of leadership and collective efficacy on the team’s performance. Written by Shalonda K. Bradford of Savannah State University, USA, this case study approach was implemented by three teams of business students participating in a national business competition. Featured in the International Journal of Web-Based Learning and Teaching Technologies (IJWLTT), implications of the case findings are discussed and a scope for future research is offered.
