Argentina Ornelas

Argentina Ornelas, Ph.D., received her doctorate in Chemistry from Texas A&M University. She has training in basic science research in biology and chemistry. After graduate training, she pursued a postdoctoral training position at MD Anderson Cancer Center, where she was an NCI R25T Cancer Prevention Research Training Fellow in the Cancer Prevention Research Training Program, and the department of Cancer Systems Imaging. It was at MD Anderson that she discovered the importance of the engagement of advisory committees in the successful development of biomedical research training and education. As an active participant of the postdoctoral association at MD Anderson, she firsthand observed the value of advisory committees in the training component of biomedical research education, in order to advance the scientific and health enterprise, as well as to specifically improve the professional training experience of research fellows, all of which can result in ample improvements in the biomedical research workforce.
