Aydemir Ay

Aydemir Ay was born in Edirne. He received a diploma from Edirne lhami Ertem High School. From 1997 to 2001, he studied Tourism and Hotel Management at Eastern Mediterranean University. After graduating, he began teaching part-time at Trakya University in Turkey. In 2002, he was a consultant to the Governor of Edirne and a full-time academician at Trakya University. In 2014, he completed his MBA at Istanbul Beykent University. He began working as the Tourist Consultant for Edirne Municipality in 2015 and continues to this day. He is the author of the Amazon Books-sold book “Kirkpinar Oil Wrestling.” The Gourmand Cookbook Prize recognized Edirne Jewish Food, also written by Aydemir Ay - Yilmaz Seim, as the best cookbook in the world. This work has been translated into Hebrew, Ladino, English, and Turkish. The book explores the 1457 II. Mehmed Edirne Festival and the 1675 IV. Mehmed Edirne Festival. Aydemir Ay is still a PhD candidate at Trakya University, Edirne, in the Tourism Management Department. He has served as a consultant for numerous hotels, tourism organizations, and food and beverage businesses. In addition, he creates English promotional and tourism publications, does academic research, and composes articles about Edirne. Tourism, tourists and local public perception, cross-border tourism, the history of Edirne, the cuisine of Edirne, minority cultures, the history of Kirkpinar Oil Wrestling, lessening poverty, education for and economic strengthening of low-income communities are his particular areas of interest.
