Cara Sidman

Cara SidmanDr. Cara Sidman is a Lecturer and Administrator in the College of Health Solutions at Arizona State University where she oversees the interdisciplinary curriculum in the College of Health Solutions, and teaches courses focused on health, well-being, and happiness. She has been developing curriculum, coordinating, researching, and teaching online, hybrid, and face-to-face physical activity and lifetime wellness courses since 1999, and teaching and presenting on the topic of happiness since 2012. Dr. Sidman earned her PhD in Curriculum and Instruction (Exercise & Wellness) from Arizona State University, her Master’s in Exercise Science from Appalachian State University (Boone, NC), and her Bachelor’s in Physical Education and Health from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. This education has led her to a focus and passion for promoting happiness and well-being, including the multidimensional aspects of wellness and behavior change (i.e., spiritual, emotional, social, intellectual, and physical). Her research publication areas include mindfulness, exercise self-efficacy, intrinsic motivation, sitting behaviors, and perceived wellness among college students, as well as the comparison of online, hybrid, and face-to-face course delivery formats. Dr. Sidman co-created and taught an inaugural university studies happiness course at UNC-Wilmington, and currently presents at national, regional, and local levels on happiness strategies, happiness in the workplace, and cultivating a culture of happiness.
