Charles Pinckney

Charles Pinckney , PhD, is an Associate Professor and Department Chair of Psychology at Coppin State University and serves as a Faculty Mentor and Curriculum Manager with the South Carolina Afterschool Alliance. He holds a Ph.D. in Psychology, an M.A. in Counseling, and a B.S. in Sociology. Dr. Pinckney has over two decades of academic leadership experience, including roles as Department Chair, Division Dean, and Faculty Athletic Representative at several institutions. His scholarship explores the intersection of hip-hop culture, mental health, and educational equity, with particular focus on African American college students. A former NCAA Division II Legislative Committee member, he has worked extensively on student success, curriculum development, and culturally responsive pedagogy.
