Elena V. Smirnova

Elena Smirnova, PhD, is a practical software engineer and an innovative teacher in the field of information systems, specialising in mainframes. She is a Deputy Head of the Computer Systems and Networks Department, Bauman Moscow State Technical University (BMSTU), Director of the IBM Mainframe Center of Excellence, university's represantative in the Worldwide CDIO Initiative. She has combined research experience at a senior level with the development of advanced educational methods. Her work has included the creation and management of information systems; preparation of grant applications; the development of sustainable links between academia and industry and extensive international proficiency, including participation in a UK funded ‘Know-How’ project and European Union TEMPUS and ERASMUS+ grant applications.
