Kelvin Joseph Bwalya

Kelvin Joseph Bwalya is an Associate Professor at the Centre for Information and Knowledge Management, University of Johannesburg. He has a PhD in Information Management (University of Johannesburg), Masters of Computer Science (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology – KAIST) and Bachelors in Electronics and Electrical Power Engineering (Moscow Power Engineering Technical University). He is also a member of the Board of Directors – Mosi-oa-Tunya University of Science and Technology – MUST. Prof Bwalya is also a PhD supervisor and member of the Board of Exams at Tswane University of Technology, National University of Science and Technology - Zimbabwe, University of KwaZulu Nata, University of South Africa, University of Zululand, University of the Free State, Annamalai University, Alagappa University, Mohamed Sathak College of Arts and Science, etc. He has supervised 5 PhDs to completion, several Masters and undergraduate projects. He has published 7 books and over 100 pieces of peer reviewed articles and has also managed research funds over US$500,000 in total. He is also a member of various professional bodies and editorial teams. He has previously worked at the University of Botswana, University of Zambia, Samsung Electronics and has led teams of experts in Information Systems and Information Technology tertiary programmes’ assessments under the auspices of the Botswana Qualifications Authority. His current research interests are big data and predictive analytics, genomics, spatial-temporal data modelling, competitive intelligence, databases, m-Government, open data, etc.
