Nicolas Ducheneaut

Nicolas Ducheneaut is a member of the Research Staff in the Computer Science Laboratory at the Palo Alto Research Center. He joined PARC after completing his PhD at the University of California, Berkeley. His research focuses on software and technologies that support and enhance social interactions. He observes interactions in online environments; builds tools to analyze these interactions further; and designs, deploys and evaluates new social technologies to help people communicate and collaborate with each other. He uses a broad combination of methods in research: “virtual” ethnography (participant observation and in-depth interviews in online spaces), data mining and statistical analysis, and information visualization. His publications have appeared in areas including Human-Computer Interaction, Computer-Supported Cooperative Work, and sociology.
