Prabir Mukhopadhyay

Prabir MukhopadhyayDr. Prabir Mukhopadhyay is currently an Associate Professor and Head of the Design Discipline at the PDPM-Indian Institute of information Technology Design and Manufacturing Jabalpur, India. He teaches Industrial Ergonomics to undergraduate and postgraduate Design students. He is actively involved in Ergonomic Research related to prevention of work related musculoskeletal disorders, application of ergonomics in the informal sector, process design etc. Dr Mukhopadhyay was employed at the National Institute of Design, India as an Associate Senior Faculty for more than five years prior to coming to Jabalpur. Dr Mukhopadhyay taught Industrial Ergonomics to the undergraduate and postgraduate design students across various disciplines. There he was engaged in research and consultancy project management pertaining to different sectors like craft, railways etc. Dr Mukhopadhyay completed his Masters in Human Physiology from the University of Calcutta India specialising in Ergonomics and Work Physiology. He was the recipient of the European Union MIRTH (Musculoskeletal Injury Reduction Tool for Health and Safety) scholarship for pursuing his doctoral studies at the University of Limerick, Ireland, in the area of Industrial Ergonomics at the Department of Manufacturing and Operations Engineering (Now Department of Design and Manufacturing Technology). He was awarded a PhD degree in 2004 in Industrial Ergonomics. Till date Dr Mukhopadhayay has more than 20 peer reviewed journal publications in different areas of ergonomics. He visited different countries like Austria, The Netherlands, Iceland, Singapore etc. to present his papers at different international conferences.
