Yushi Shen

Yushi Shen is an outstanding scholar and social activist. He has over 15-year of research, development and management experiences in the IT industry, and leadership experiences in various influential international and local organizations. With five books and over twenty research papers published, Dr. Shen is an internationally recognized expert in the areas of cloud computing, wireless communications and video coding. He has served as reviewers, associate editors, technical program committee chairs / members for numerous international conferences and core journals. He is the recipient of various awards and recognitions. Dr. Shen is currently Microsoft’s Cloud Business Development, Government Affairs and Strategy Director in the China region. He has joined Microsoft headquarter in Redmond, WA since year 2006, and worked on the design and serviceability for general Windows Media (WM) techniques and the WM platform. From 2010 to 2012, Dr. Shen has served as the Chair of Chinese Microsoft Employee Network (CHIME). Since late 2012, he has stepped up as the Chair of entire Microsoft Asian Employee Resources Group (ERG), overseeing the 17 Asian ethnicity groups with more than 10,000 Microsoft employee members. Dr. Shen received his B.S. degree in electrical engineering from the Tsinghua University, Beijing, P. R. China, in 2001, and Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering, from the Univ. of California at San Diego (UCSD), La Jolla, in 2006, and MBA degree from the Univ. of Washington (UW), Seattle, in 2012.
