Basically, an information could be defined as:
All we can perceive, directly or indirectly, through our five senses, of the things that surround us to increase our level of knowledge and to constitute a sufficient idea on a specific subject for the purpose of achieving a well-defined objective (personal, professional, etc..).
This definition clearly underlines the immaterial aspect of information. The purpose of the information use and the information communication have led mankind to be more interested in its immaterial aspect and to link its material aspect automatically to its own sources.
In general, the complexity of information is expressed primarily by its size (number of component parts) and depends on its users’ objectives.
Inside a work environment, to manage his/her own personal relationships, each employee only needs the names of his/her colleagues but in the case of a professional relationship such as the human resource management, the boss needs each employee’s administrative identity (code, full name, and family situation, etc.), as basic information, to facilitate the employee’s follow-up.
