Abstract

Developments in computers and in telecommunications lead to the conclusion that these two field will eventually merge. The term “Telematics” is the name of the product of that merge. Future global telematics policy will be primarily a function of the achievements in the field of telecommunications in the major countries of the world. However developments in computers, changes in the managerial styles and in the world’s political climate will also be important. This paper presents a summary of the telecommunication systems in the major parts of the world and examines how they are influenced by other factors. On a basis of that a prognosis of a global telematics system is built and examined.
