Cintron, Samuel, and Hinson present this research compilation on accelerating the currently oft-delayed progression through higher education. The preface highlights obstacles to success in higher education including inconsistent secondary education and socioeconomic barriers. Contributions address the relationship between curriculum design and student perceptions of value and job relevance, success coaching as a strategy to improve retention, quality academic advising, disparities between students taking college courses in high school and those not, purposeful scheduling based on student need, cultural intelligence and student satisfaction, mobile apps as educational adjuncts, teacher professional development, globalization and social media, and opportunities for college credit based on knowledge assessment. Data is taken from examples in New Orleans, Australia, and India as well as more broad-based studies.

Editor/Author Biographies
René Cintrón transitioned during the making of this book to be the Assistant Vice President of Academic Programs and Institutional Research with Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS). Before joining LCTCS, he was with one of the 13 colleges managed and supported by LCTCS, Delgado Community College. There, he served in various positions including Instructor of Business, Assistant Dean of Business and Technology, and Executive Director of Planning and Research. He received his MBA in Management from American InterContinental University in 2004, earned his Ph.D. in Organization and Management from Capella University in 2009. Dr. Cintrón, a U.S. Air Force veteran, has taught classes in the military, secondary, undergraduate, and graduate levels; in-person, online, and blended environments. He has been actively involved in curriculum design and several research projects including evaluating organizational effectiveness and student success in non-traditional learning environments.
Jeanne Samuel received her MA in Adult Education & Distance Learning from the University of Phoenix in 2003 and earned the Ph.D. in Educational Technology from Louisiana State University in 2012. Dr. Samuel joined Delgado Community College as Business and Technology faculty members in 2010 and is currently the Director of Faculty and Staff Development and the interim Dean of Distance Learning & Instructional Technology.
Janice M. Hinson is a professor at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in the Department of Reading and Elementary Education where she teaches courses in classroom management and technology integration. She earned a master’s degree in Reading Education from Old Dominion University and an Ed.D. in Curriculum from the University of Virginia.
