Description & Coverage
Description:

Bibliometric analysis has risen during the last ten years. It is a statistical evaluation of published works that is able to investigate the progress of a specific research topic, thus conducting future research frontiers. Bibliometric analysis enhances scientific literature, including a number of indicators, such as subject categories, research institutions, international collaboration, highly cited papers, etc.

Environmental science and management is an interdisciplinary area that studies the physical, biological and social components of environment, to provide technological, economic and managerial decision making on the involved issues. Bibliometric studies can help understand the environmental systems by taking into account the flow of knowledge and the relationships between countries and institutions. Furthermore, the novelty of this approach regards its dynamics, since it permits to share flows and patterns between various actors. In environmental science and management, bibliometrics analysis allows the description, evaluation, and follow-up policies and plans for decision making processes, as well as for improving scientific research. This book on bibliometric analysis applications for environment science and management helps to better understand the environmental system. Researchers, as well as managers, can achieve a dynamic view of the research and its scores, allowing strengths and weaknesses to be defined.
