Description & Coverage
Description:

Corporations across the globe are increasingly considering the importance of user experience and business process design in creation of Web information systems.

Designing Complex Web Information Systems: Integrating Evolutionary Process Engineering provides an overview of modern Web application technologies useful to business designers. This Premier Reference Source presents information communication technologies at work to solve real-life problems ranging from accounting to managing an organization.

Coverage:

The many academic areas covered in this publication include, but are not limited to:

  • Automatic code generation
  • Case studies in Web information systems
  • Code generators
  • Design for external users
  • Design for internal users
  • Evolution of business process notation
  • Introduction to ontology
  • Technological choices in ontology
  • Web application process
  • Web information system design
Reviews & Statements

This book introduces two new methodologies: the first one as result of the extension and a reasoned integration of existing methodologies at conceptual and logical levels introducing a new publishing model, the second one, that oriented to the internal users, as an enhancement of the generation of applications through workflow engines.

– Roberto Paiano, University of Salento, Italy

This book reports on ten years of research on developing an integrated and flexible methodology for modeling complex Web information systems.

Editor/Author Biographies
Roberto Paiano graduated in Electronic Engineering from the University of Bologna. He worked in IBM for 10 years. He was team leader at IBM RNSL (now TIVOLI Laboratory) and Project Manager at the CORINTO Consortium (National Research Consortium about Object-Oriented Technology). He is member of the IEEE. Currently, he is assistant professor at University of Salento (Italy). He has authored papers about information systems, Web modeling and design, metrics for the Web development. His current research interests are: the methodology of design of Web information systems, the automatic code generation using Open-Source Frameworks and information systems based on the MAS.
Anna Lisa Guido is graduated in computer science engineering at the University of Lecce on July 2004 and got her PhD in computer science from Salento University (Italy). Her research area is on Web information system, and she is oriented to develop a framework light for small-to-medium size companies that allow to manage business processes. The framework will be made both by a methodology and by tools that helps the designer in the design, development and manage of Web information system process-oriented. Methodology will link the know-how of web application design and the know-how of process design. She is author of papers about methodology of design of Web information systems.
Andrea Pandurino is a information and communication engineer with PhD, a contract professor at the department of engineering Innovation of the University of Salento in the class of computer graphics, a coordinator teacher in the class of information system of the bachelor degree in computer science engineering. Starting from January 2007, he is a researcher and engineer at ISPESL (Italian Superior institute for health and safety on the workplace). His research is based on the market surveillance for the machines subject to the Machinery Directive 98/37/EC absorbed in Italy with DPR n. 459/96.
