Reviews & Statements

This book is an impressive and successful endeavor to establish a link between self-directed learning and our current digital information age. As rightly perceived, effective self-directed techniques and strategies are the pillars of today’s technology-based learning. I strongly recommend this book for educators at different levels of teaching who incorporate digital learning in their classrooms or online using different learning management systems. It has the following strengths:

  • The book relates to the current generation of learners, who are on a large scale self-directed in their ways of learning than their predecessors.
  • It not only analyses the challenges related to online learning but also comes up with probable ways of addressing those challenges in an effective manner so as to reap the desired learning outcomes. It is a great resource for all educators at different levels of teaching to maximise their teaching effectiveness, providing with a variety of strategies, while planning, instructing, implementing and evaluating the online courses.
  • It starts with the setting up the stage for online learning and use of a calculator to monitor one’s learning; then it explores the role of adult learning theory and its importance, metacognition and knowledge transfer in a fast-changing educational canvas and finally from an educator’s perspective, this book encapsulates how it leads to the transformational shifts of knowledge and pedagogy through professional development and self-directed learning.
