Editor/Author Biographies

Changsong Wang serves as the Dean of the School of Communication and the Director of the Centre for ASEAN and Chinese Screen Studies, at Xiamen University Malaysia. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Film and Broadcasting from Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang, Malaysia. Dr. Wang has contributed as a jury member for various international film festivals in China and Malaysia. Currently, he holds the position of Vice President at the International Network on Media and Communication (INMC) and is an expert fellow at the Asian & Chinese-language Cinema Research Center, Beijing Normal University, China. With numerous publications to his credit, including (2020) and (2015), Professor Wang has authored over 60 journal articles and book chapters in both English and Chinese. He also serves on the editorial boards of several international journals. Professor Wang's research interests encompass film/cinema studies and cultural studies.

Cheng FeiYong is a distinguished academic and researcher in film studies, specializing in the sustainability of Malaysian independent filmmakers through innovative media approaches. Currently, he obtained his PhD at Multimedia University, where his research focuses on integrating new media technologies to support local filmmakers. After obtaining a Master’s degree in Digital Film & TV from Limkokwing University, Yong embarked on an academic career that led to a senior lecturer position at Xiamen University Malaysia. His commitment to film studies is demonstrated through his active engagement in research and scholarship. He has published and presented several papers locally in Malaysia and on international platforms, contributing valuable insights into the evolving dynamics of film and media. Yong's work reflects a deep understanding of filmmaking's technical and creative aspects and underscores the importance of sustainable practices in the independent film industry. By fostering a dialogue between technology and creativity, he aims to empower emerging filmmakers to navigate the challenges of the digital age.

Rustono Farady Marta, S.Sos., M.Med.Kom, or familiarly called “Frad”, obtained his bachelor degree in Communication Science at Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 Surabaya, then completed his Master's Degree in Post-Graduate Program of Media & Communication at Universitas Airlangga. Achievements in the field of research have been engraved when won the Best III at the Indonesia Media Research Awards and Summit (IMRAS) in 2014 (social media category) and the year 2015 (online media category). In 2016 received a Research Lecturer Scholarship from Tempo Institute, while 2017 awarded for National Research Grant for Dissertation by Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education Republic of Indonesia. To complete the study of Doctoral degree in Communication Sciences at Universitas Indonesia. He is a visiting assistant professor at the Faculty of Psychology at Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia and Vice Rector of Student Affairs, Alumni, and Partnership at Universitas Satya Negara Indonesia. The specialties of Frad are the identity studies and communication media sciences.
