Editor/Author Biographies
M. Uthayakumar has obtained Master of Engineering in Production Engineering from Thiagarajar College of Engineering (Autonomous), Madurai, India. He did his research on bimetallic piston machining studies in the Department of Production Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli and received Ph.D from Anna University Chennai. He was awarded as young scientist by Tamil Nadu state council for Science and Technology and undergone the post doctoral fellowship on Tribology in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi. He has published currently 100 papers in the referred international journal. He has visited Cracow University of Technology Poland and Yeungnam University, Korea as visiting professor. He organized the second international conference on Advanced Manufacturing and Automation (INCAMA 2013) successfully and produced special issues in reputed journals. Currently he is working as Director (International relations) of Kalasalingam University, India.
S. Aravind Raj is currently working as an Assistant professor - Senior in the School of Mechanical Engineering at the Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore, India. He received his doctorate degree in Industrial Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli in 2014. His research area is focused on Agile manufacturing process and their applications in manufacturing industries. Recent work focuses on Industrial and Safety Engineering projects. He has published 16 International journals papers in leading SCI/ SCOPUS Indexed journals and 31 papers in International conferences; he is co-author for 3 book chapters. He is a reviewer of reputed international journals. He has received several awards including Doctoral Scholarship and Best Paper Award.
Tae Jo Ko is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Yeungnam University, Korea. He received his bachelor and master’s degrees from the Pusan National University, Korea. He got Ph.D in mechanical engineering from POSTECH, S. Korea. He has worked for Doosan Infracore Co. Ltd. (formerly Daewoo) from 1985 to 1995. Also, he was responsible for the Gyoungbuk Hybrid Technology Institute that is regional research innovation center and initiated the idea for hybrid manufacturing. He was dean of School of Mechanical Engineering in Yeungnam University until 2016. His research interests include machine tools, metal cuttings as well as non-traditional machining. Recently, he launched the research of surface texturing using metal cutting and grinding. Also he is very much interested in CFRP machining, especially in drilling.
S. Thirumalai Kumaran is currently working as an Associate Professor in the School of Automotive and Mechanical Engineering, Kalasalingam academy of Research and Education (KARE). After completing Ph.D., he worked as an Assistant Professor at School of Mechanical Engineering, Yeungnam University, South Korea for a period of one year. Currently at KARE, he is one among the Research Head in the “Centre for Advanced Machining”. Dr. S. Thirumalai Kumaran has successfully completed a research project received from the Department of Atomic Energy-Board of Studies in Nuclear Science (DAE-BRNS) worth Rs.20,56,500/-. Currently, he has one on-going project from CVRDE, Chennai. He has published more than 40 publications as the main author and co-author in SCI indexed International Journals (as of 2018). Additionally, he has published more than 30 conference papers in different countries including India, Japan and South Korea. He is acting as reviewer for several International Journals.
J. Paulo Davim is a Full Professor at the University of Aveiro, Portugal. He is also distinguished as honorary professor in several universities/colleges/institutes in China, India and Spain. He received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering, MSc in Mechanical Engineering (materials and manufacturing processes) and Mechanical Engineering degree (5 years), from the University of Porto (FEUP), the Aggregate title (Full Habilitation) from the University of Coimbra and the DSc (Higher Doctorate) from London Metropolitan University. He is Fellow (FIET) of IET-London and Eur Ing by Engineers Europe FEANI-Brussels. He is also Senior Chartered Engineer by the Portuguese Institution of Engineers with an MBA and Specialist titles in Engineering and Industrial Management as well as in Metrology. He has more than 35 years of teaching and research experience in Manufacturing, Materials, Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, with special emphasis in Machining, Tribology & Surface Engineering. He has also interest in Design, Management, Sustainability, Industry 5.0, Engineering Education and Higher Education for Sustainability. He has guided large numbers of postdoc, PhD and master’s students as well as has coordinated and participated in several financed research projects. He has received several scientific awards and honors. He has worked as evaluator of projects for ERC-European Research Council and other international research agencies as well as examiner of PhD thesis for many universities in different countries. He is the Editor in Chief of several international journals, book Series Editor and Scientific Advisory for many conferences. Presently, he is an Editorial Board member of 30 international journals and acts as reviewer for more than 200. In addition, he has also published as editor (and co-editor) more than 300 books and as author (and co-author) more than 15 books, 100 book chapters and 600 articles in journals and conferences (WoS/h-index 70+/17000+ citations, SCOPUS/h-index 79+/21500+ citations, Google Scholar/h-index 99+/36500+ citations). He was listed in World´s Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University study 2023 (Ranked at 1 National Ranking / 2112 World Ranking single year 2022). Also, he was listed in Research.com ranking 2024 (Ranked at 1 National Ranking / 82 World Ranking in field of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and Ranked at 7 National Ranking / 1400 World Ranking in field of Materials Science). 2022/23/24 - Research.com Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering/Materials Science in Portugal Leader Award
