Editor/Author Biographies
Pawan Kumar is the assistant professor in Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering Department at Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Patiala, Punjab, India. He is a Certified Energy Manager cum Auditor (Bureau of Energy Efficiency) with 15 years’ (including 7 years of research) academic experience in the Power and Energy fields of Electrical Technology. Dr. Kumar has received his B. Tech from Kurukshetra University in 2001. He has done M. Tech from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi in 2010 and, PhD from Jamia Millia Islamia (A Central University), New Delhi in 2016. He had excellent independent research training and development while being worked as Coordinator of Energy Elite Club. He has published several research papers in various reputed publishing houses including, IEEE, IET, Elsevier, and AJOL. He has been assumed as Managing Guest Editor for the Special Issue on “Innovative Technologies for Micro-grid and Smart-grid Systems” of Computers and Electrical Engineering, Elsevier Journal. He has also been served as a reviewer for reputed journals and conferences including, Engineering Science and Technology, an International Journal and Electrical Power and Energy Systems, Elsevier, IJITWE IGI Global USA, JCIT IGI Global USA, 12th IEEE INDICON-2015, International Conference on Advances in Computing, Communications and Informatics (ICACCI'17) and 14TH IEEE INDICON-17 held at IIT Roorkee. He has worked as Session Chair and reviewer for ICICS-2016 for the track of power, energy and control. He has also received Best Paper Award during ICICS-2016 International Conference. He has delivered expert lectures on Energy Efficiency in electrical utilities in various institutions. His area of current interests include: Energy efficiency in electrical utilities, optimization in power system’s operation and planning, distributed generation, load management and energy auditing, computational intelligence, Innovative technologies for micro-grid and smart-grid systems.
Surjit Singh received the Ph.D. degree in computer engineering from National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra, Haryana, India. He is currently employed as an Assistant Professor in the Computer Science and Engineering Department, Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala, India. Before joining to TIET, Patiala, he worked as a faculty member for NIT Kurukshetra. He has four books to his credit. He has published many research papers in journals of high repute including IEEE Transactions, Elsevier, Springer, Wiley, and Taylor & Francis. He has done extensive research work in the area of WSN, SDN, Blockchain Technologies, the Internet of Things, and Cloud Computing.
Ikbal Ali is Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering & Technology of Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, India. Dr. Ali has earned the Ph.D. degree for his research work in the field of Substation Automation, where he investigated the communication requirements for substation automation. Dr. Ali’s research work has been published in refereed international journals/conferences of repute. He is actively involved in research and development activities in areas of SCADA systems, Power System Automation, Smart Grid, Substation Communication Network, Broadband over Power Line (BPL), IEC61850 based systems, Wide Area Protection, Communication, and Control in Energy Systems, Power and Energy System Applications (generation, transmission, distribution, markets, operations, planning, Energy Management Systems (with applications to building and home automation). Dr. Ali is a senior member in IEEE and an expert lecturer on the topics related to Smart Grid Technologies, Substation Automation Trends and Communication Networks for Substation Automation.
Taha Selim Ustun received B.E. degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Middle East Technical University, Turkey in 2007 and Master of Engineering Science degree from University of Malaya, Malaysia in 2009. He has received Ph.D in Electrical Engineering from Victoria University, Melbourne, Australia. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor in Electrical Engineering, School of Electrical and Compputer Engineering, Carnagie-Mellon University, PA, USA. His research Interests are Power Systems Protection, Communication in Power Networks, Distributed Generation, Microgrids and Smartgrids.
