Editor/Author Biographies
Rachid Amrousse completed his high school education in experimental sciences in 2002 and obtained his Bachelor's degree in 2006 from El Jadida University. He then pursued his studies at the University of Poitiers in France, where he earned his Master's degree in 2007. In 2010, Prof. Rachid obtained his PhD degree from the University of Poitiers, collaborating with both the French space agency (CNES) and the Air Liquide Society. His doctoral research was centered on the topic of “The ignition of cold hydrogen-oxygen mixtures for satellite control reactions.” Following his PhD, in 2011, he became a Research Associate at the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), becoming the first foreign national to be recruited by JAXA. His research focuses on the development of high-energy materials and the exploration of catalysis as applied to space propulsion, encompassing areas such as thermal decomposition, combustion mechanisms, characterization, and stability. In 2016, Prof. Rachid secured a competitive grant from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) for a two-year project aimed at developing green propellant thrusters for reaction control systems, particularly for small satellites. During the same year, he also joined the University of Chouaib Doukkali (UCD) in El Jadida, Morocco, where he eventually attained the position of Associate Professor in 2020. Throughout his career, Prof. Rachid has received numerous allowances and awards for his research endeavors. These accolades include the Poitou-Charentes Region's Allowance for his Master's degree, CNES's allowance for his PhD degree, recognition from the European Green Aerospace Propellant (GRASP) Project, acknowledgments from JAXA, and support from JSPS. He has authored over 50 peer-reviewed papers and proceedings and has delivered more than 80 presentations, including oral presentations, keynote speeches, and plenary lectures, all revolving around propellant-related topics. He is an active member of the Japan Explosives Society. Prof. Rachid is also an avid contributor to academic journals, reviewing more than 10 papers annually for various journals related to catalysis and propulsion. His achievements have been recognized with awards for best presentations, but perhaps most notably, he was awarded the National Medal of Merit by King Mohammed VI of Morocco in 2016.
Ahmed Bachar 's academic journey is marked by a profound dedication to the field of Materials Science. Graduating with distinction, he earned his professional master’s degree in Materials Engineering from the esteemed University of Valenciennes in France in 2012. Fuelled by a passion for deeper understanding, Ahmed pursued further academic heights, culminating in the completion of his doctorate in Materials Science from the same institution. Since 2016, Ahmed has served as an esteemed accredited professor at Ibn Zohr University in Morocco, where he has imparted his wealth of knowledge and expertise to countless eager minds. His tenure at the university has been marked by a commitment to excellence in education, nurturing the next generation of aspiring scientists and engineers. At the core of Ahmed's scholarly pursuits lies a fascination with the synthesis, physicochemical properties, and intricate property-structure relationships inherent in ceramics and glassy compounds. His research endeavors delve into the fundamental principles governing these materials, seeking to unlock their full potential and push the boundaries of scientific understanding. Ahmed BACHAR's contributions to the field stand as a testament to his unwavering dedication and intellectual curiosity, enriching the academic landscape and paving the way for groundbreaking advancements in Materials Science.
Assia Mabrouk , PhD, is a luminary in the realm of materials physics, heralding from a distinguished academic background and a profound commitment to scientific inquiry. Her journey began with a steadfast pursuit of knowledge culminating in a Ph.D. in Materials Physics from the esteemed University of Orléans, France, in 2017. Following the completion of her doctoral studies, Assia embarked on a transformative journey at CEA Cadarache in France, where she honed her expertise in a cutting-edge project focused on the development of a potentiometric probe to measure oxygen in sodium. Her tenure at CEA Cadarache, spanning until 2019, was marked by a relentless pursuit of excellence and a deep-seated passion for pushing the boundaries of scientific innovation. Currently serving as a professor at Ibnou Zohr University in Morocco, Assia Mabrouk continues to leave an indelible mark on the landscape of materials science. Her primary research interests lie in the synthesis, structural characterization, and mechanical properties of glasses and ceramics, areas that hold immense promise for technological advancement and industrial applications. As a scholar, Assia's work represents the intersection of rigorous scientific inquiry and real-world impact.
