Editor/Author Biographies
Hwee Ling Lim is an Associate Professor at The Petroleum Institute in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE). She obtained her Bachelor, Master degrees and a Diploma in Education from The National University of Singapore (Singapore). She has a Doctor of Philosophy (Information Technology) from Murdoch University, Perth, Australia. Her areas of research include educational technology, computer-mediated communication, electronic discourse analysis and more recently, engineering education and human resource management. She has published over 37 works that included books, book chapters, journal papers and conference proceedings. She received an award for best research paper at the 2007 Computer Science and Information Technology Education Conference (CSITED). Lim is an Editorial Review Board member for the Journal of Information Technology Education: Research, and Journal of Information Technology Education: Innovations in Practice. She is a regular reviewer for annual international conferences that include Advances in Social Networks Analysis and Mining (ASONAM ); Computers and Advanced Technology in Education (CATE); and Conference on Computer Supported Education (CSEDU). Lim has recently given invited talks on engineering education in Doha (Qatar) and Abu Dhabi (UAE).
Fay Sudweeks is Emerita Associate Professor at Murdoch University, Perth, Australia. She has a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology and Sociology), Master of Cognitive Science and Doctor of Philosophy (Communication Studies). Her current research interests are social and cultural aspects of communication, group dynamics and e-learning. Fay has been nominated for the Vice Chancellor’s Excellence in Teaching Award and has been nominated twice for the Excellence in Research Supervision Award. She has published 7 authored or edited books, 17 edited proceedings, and more than 80 papers in journals, books and conference proceedings. She is on the editorial board of 6 international journals: Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication, Human Communication Research, New Media and Society, International Journal of e-Learning, Open Communication Journal, and International Journal of Information Systems in the Service Sector. With Charles Ess, Fay has co-chaired eight international and interdisciplinary conferences on Cultural Attitudes towards Technology and Communication (CATaC). Fay has given invited talks in numerous countries including the USA, South Africa, Russia, Germany, Israel, and Sweden.
