Description:

Teaching English, or any other language, in the 21st century requires teachers to be competent in using computer-assisted language learning (CALL) to alleviate learning of subject matter and assess methods of instruction in different contexts. To be CALL competent, English as a foreign language (EFL) teachers should have acquired the seven subdomains of technological, pedagogical, and content knowledge (TPACK) regarding their subject matter before going into their teaching practice. As the learning environment evolves, technology plays a crucial role, so EFL teachers need to be well-prepared to deal with it. Editor/Author Biographies
Dr Mohialdeen Alotumi is an Associate Professor of TESOL and Applied Linguistics at the English Department, Faculty of Languages, Sana’a University, Yemen. He received his PhD in English Language Education from the English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad, India, in 2015—as an ICCR scholarship grantee. In 2004, he was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to pursue a Master’s in TESOL at Murray State University, USA. He has published several scientific papers in top-tier journals. Besides, he has been reviewing scientific manuscripts for Education & Information Technologies, Heliyon, and Frontiers in Psychology. His research interests encompass, among others, computer-assisted language learning (CALL), teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL), language teacher education, language testing, technology integration, and TPACK.
