Editor/Author Biographies

Belinda Alexander-Ashley, Ph.D., is an independent researcher, editor, author, genealogist, and consultant. After serving more than 22 years in various positions within the U.S. Probation system in three districts, she advocated for underrepresented and underserved populations gaining insight from their multifaceted perspectives. During her tenure, the author acquired insight on the impact of mass incarceration in relationship to trauma and the school-to-prison pipeline (STPP). Additionally, a need was identified to broaden integration of social justice into the educational framework and interject hope and personalized family history to enhance the historical tapestry, strengthen personal identity, and promote healthy dialogues. Subsequently, the first chapter titled, “Reducing Mass Incarceration through Trauma-Informed Pedagogy” was published in 2021. Committed to personal excellence and community, she graduated from Leadership Tulsa (OK), Leadership Cape Girardeau (MO), and Leadership Pittsburgh (PA) to enhance her service to the citizenry, educational system, and global community.(86f47731-9c67-4ae7-b2c2-3152d07b2496)
