Despite the variety of intensive supporting facilities for early-stage businesses and startups, startups’ survival rate is still low. Business accelerators are recognized as facilitators that reduce startup failure. They are now widespread around the world and have the subject of increasing international research in recent years.
The focus of this publication are virtual accelerator programs, a relatively recent phenomenon, potentiated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Being a new and fast-growing research topic, there is unclear evidence of its role and impact on early-stage startups. Several topics are discussed to highlight and better understand digital accelerators and virtual startup support programs, namely the best practices and methods to accelerate early-stage startups.
