Description

The book will have an introductory section that will review the major technological eras through which mankind has passed and the impact these technologies have had on economic performance, as well as look ahead to what we might experience in the next two decades: the biotech era, the nanotech era, the robotics era, and the beginnings of the space era.

The second section will be technology-oriented, adopting as a framework one of the many commonly-used technology clusters such as Ray Kurzweil’s GNR (Genomics, Nanotechnology, and Robotics), Garreau’s GRIN (Genetics, Robotics, Information Technology, and Nanotechnology) or the more-widely used NBIC (Nanotechnology, Biotechnology, Information Technology, and Cognitive Technology). Each chapter will review the major developments in the technology since 2000 and the contributions these developments made to business/economic activity, especially in the target sectors of education, health, and space. It will then discuss possible and likely developments in the coming two decades and the business opportunities these developments might create in the education, health, and space sectors.

The third section will be output-oriented, focusing on the three target sectors of education (especially fun-based and immersion-based learning), health (eradicating diseases, enhancing physical and mental abilities, dream control, mood control, extending the lifespan, and merging of humans and machines) and space (early steps in populating natural and man-made bodies in the solar system and the galaxy – commencing with Proxima Centauri B - space tourism, and space mining).

The impact of the book will be influenced by the appeal of the topics and the recognition factor of the key authors. The book will address topics of great interest to people in both their working and private capacities and will contain both long-term and short-term analyses of both technologies and sectors, and will address prospects in both the near-term and medium-term future of technologies and major business sectors. The book is targeted towards academics, researchers, executives, entrepreneurs and government officials who are making the greatest contributions to the nature and achievements of the human race.
