Editor/Author Biographies
Zheng Yan received the B. Eng in electrical engineering and M. Eng in computer science and engineering from Xi’an Jiaotong University in 1994 and 1997. She received a second M. Eng in information security from National University of Singapore in 2000. She received the Licentiate of Science and the Doctor of Science in Technology in electrical engineering from Helsinki University of Technology in 2005 and 2007. She is currently a professor at the Xidian University, China and a docent at the Aalto University, Finland. She joined the Nokia Research Center, Helsinki in 2000, working as a senior researcher until 2011. Before Nokia, she worked as a research scholar at the Institute for Information Research from 1997 to 1999 and a software engineer at the IBM partner SingaLab from 1999 to 2000, Singapore. She authored more than 80 publications and edited one book. She is the inventor of 25 patents and patent applications. She has given 6 keynotes and invited talks in international conferences and universities. Her research interests are in trust, security and privacy; mobile applications and services; social networking; data mining; cloud computing and pervasive computing. Prof. Yan serves as an organizational and technical committee member for more than 40 international conferences and workshops. She is an editorial board member of the Journal of Convergence, an editor of KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Systems, a special issue leading guest editor of IET Information Security, Future Generation Computer Systems, Information Fusion, IEEE Systems Journal and Computers & Security, and acts as a reviewer for many reputable journals. She has organized IEEE TrustID2011/2012/2013 with IEEE TrustCom, IEEE DASC 2012, a special track about Pervasive Social Computing with UIC/ATC2010 and IEEE iThings 2012, etc. She is a member of the IEEE. Her recent awards are: Outstanding Leadership Award at IEEE iThings 2012; Outstanding Service Award at IEEE TrustCom 2012; Outstanding Service Award at IEEE TrustID 2012; “100 Expert Plan” award of Shaanxi Province, specially recruited expert of Shaanxi Province, China (2011); Sisu Award in Nokia Research Center, Helsinki (2010); Best Organizer Award in UIC/ATC2010 (2010); EU ITEA Bronze Achievement Award (2008).
