What fascinates me most about exploring what lies at the heart of learning is that even though most people – academics, practitioners, and learners – realize the significant impact of emotions on learning experiences and outcomes, it’s an area not only underrepresented in study but vastly overlooked in practice. Meaningful change requires that we take risks, grow from failures and successes, and face challenges with courage. This book balances theoretical foundations with practical applications and concludes with perspectives contributed by learners themselves.

All readers can learn more about the emotional aspects of learning and the importance of social-emotional learning for both students and teachers. Teacher educators can apply the multiple design practices to their own teaching as provided in the chapter. Teacher education programs seeking specific ways to include affective dispositions will find the chapter helpful. Programs can apply the strategies included in the chapter when their existing frameworks include social-emotional learning.
