Introduction
Computational intelligence focused on combinatorial optimization problems, evolutionary computation is associated with systems that use computational models of evolutionary processes as the key elements in design and implementation, i.e. computational techniques which are based to some degree on the evolution of biological life in the natural world. A number of evolutionary computational models have been proposed, including evolutionary algorithms, genetic algorithms, the evolution strategy, evolutionary programming and swarm intelligence. These techniques form the basis of several disciplines such as artificial life and evolutionary robotics.

This journal intends to be a major forum for scientists, engineers and practitioners interested in the study, analysis, design, modeling and implementation and solving of optimization problems, both theoretically and in a broad range of application fields. The journal also aims to foster hybrid approaches within evolutionary computation and also involving fuzzy computation and neural computation.

Objective
This special journal issue focuses on models, infrastructures, systems and algorithms for evolutionary computation and computational Intelligence. Since evolutionary computation and computational Intelligence became a hot topic in the community, many techniques have been proposed. In this special issue, we seek for solutions and applications for evolutionary computation and computational Intelligence in high novelty, as well as new visions of evolutionary computation and computational Intelligence. The major goals of this special issue are to provide a snapshot of state-of-the-art techniques and applications for evolutionary computation and computational Intelligence.

Introduction
Over the last few decades, Bio-inspired Computation (BIC) has become an emerging and popular part of modern computer science, artificial intelligence, computational intelligence, and evolutionary intelligence. BIC is usually based on biological systems that can be often self-organizing, adaptive, and tolerant of random defects. However, bioinspired computation can be very broad, including swarm intelligence, membrane and memetic computing, DNA and molecular computing, neural computing, and others. Their applications are also very diverse, including computational intelligence, computational neuroscience, bioinformatics, natural language processing, machine learning, software engineering, scheduling and timetabling, data mining, algorithm theory, and many other areas.


Objective
The aim of this special issue is to highlight the current research related to biologically inspired computing and their implementation in complex and real-life applications. All bio-inspired computational paradigms are welcome, mainly Genetic and Evolutionary Computation, including Multi-Objective Approaches, but also Fuzzy Logic, Intelligent Agent Systems, Neural Networks, Cellular Automata, Artificial Immune Systems, Swarm Intelligence and others, including hybrids. As we have seen, bioinspired computation is a very active area, and many challenges still remain. In recent times, it has been observed that Swarm Intelligence is regarded as significant and intelligent area in eyes of researchers across nook and corner in this world to propose novel things in various application areas of Computer Science.

Introduction

The Natural Computation is a human-designed computing inspired by nature that has touched all the domains of life. Objective
