Abstract

University leadership deficiency caused by some leadership styles leads to poor quality and standards of education in universities as a consequence slow economic growth and sustainable development. The objective is to examine the leadership style which can embrace transformational skills through technology and transparency leading to high quality standards in universities. The research employs critical analysis literature review as method to collect empirical data. The results indicate transformational leaders apply technological advancement in Public Universities for Economic Growth and Sustainable Development. It is concluded leadership style is effective contribution to development which has become more prominent with global shift to knowledge economies. The direct contribution of higher education to development depends on transformational leadership leading to human capital development, research and innovation. These values are critical drivers of technological advancement, which is the fulcrum of knowledge economies for economic growth and sustainable development.
