Abstract

A novel chance to expand reach and interact with others in a virtual environment exists thanks to the metaverse, a new and developing technology. Businesses have a lot of opportunity to use the metaverse as a brand stretching, as celebrities and other people have already started to do. Before using the metaverse for marketing and branding, there are a few potential disadvantages that must be taken into account. To fully grasp the possibilities of this new technology, this study will attempt to comprehend how people and celebrities can use the metaverse as a brand stretching. Additionally, in order to comprehend the possible advantages and disadvantages of this new technology, this research will examine the consequences of employing Metaverse as a marketing and branding tool. In the end, this research will offer perceptions on how organisations and people might use Metaverse to broaden their reach and interact with others in a virtual world.

Wearable technology and immersive experiences are two examples of technological advancements that are mentioned when businesses discuss “the Metaverse.” A continuous digital environment that exists even when you aren't playing the game is what's meant by an immersive experience (which blends features of the digital and physical worlds). However, it is not required for certain locales to only be reachable through augmented or virtual reality. Fortnite and other virtual worlds have begun to refer to themselves as “the Metaverse.” The game's features can be accessed by players on their personal computers, video game consoles, and even mobile phones (Seok, 2021). The Metaverse is viewed by many of the companies that have joined it as a cutting-edge marketplace where people can sell, buy, and trade goods. This is among the main motives for why these companies have joined the bandwagon. The procedure is not as straightforward as it might seem at first glance, but it is compatible with far more accurate Metaverse views and allows you to transport virtual items like clothing or automobiles from one level to another. Although some proponents of the idea have asserted this, there is no validity to the assumption that emerging technologies such as NFTs will enable the creation of movable digital assets. It would take a massive effort for a single firm to move things from one virtual environment or video game to another.
