Abstract

Sustainable Development Goal 8 on decent work constitutes an important pillar to Thailand's economic development. Its recent National Development Plan puts emphasis on transitioning into an aging demography and building its digital economy which are reflected in the incorporation of SDG 8 indicators. Key indicators in Thailand's NDP include enhancing skills and added value and a safe working environment for all. This study examines the integration of Sustainable Development Goal 8 indicators into Thailand's National Development Plan, with a particular focus on the challenges posed by an aging population. The research primarily identifies key actors and relevant programs involved in this integration process, and analyzes their impact on labor market trends in Thailand. Findings indicate that several initiatives have contributed meaningfully to enhancing digital readiness, stimulating economic growth through private investment, and improving access for older individuals to safe and supportive work environments.
