Abstract

This chapter explores the transformative role of Knowledge Management (KM) and digital health solutions in enhancing acute care delivery within high-stakes settings like emergency departments and ICUs. Amid evolving patient needs and technological advancements, acute care demands rapid, precise decision-making under time constraints. Digital tools AI-powered Clinical Decision Support Systems (CDSSs), predictive analytics, and blockchain-enabled knowledge repositories integrate multimodal data (EHRs, sensors, genomics) to optimize clinical outcomes, reduce errors, and personalize care. However, challenges such as interoperability, clinician resistance, and ethical concerns (e.g., AI bias) persist.
