Abstract

Electric vehicles are causing a shift in the automotive industry as a sustainable way to tackle the issues brought on by depleting fossil fuel reserves. Studies point to a spike in CO2 emissions, highlighting how urgently EV development must proceed. Compared to conventional cars, electric vehicles (EVs), driven by electric motors, have fewer fossil fuel and pollution costs. Widespread adoption, however, will come with challenges from consumer behavior and infrastructure constraints. The study attempts to examine different factors that affect India's adoption of electric vehicles such as issue of range anxiety, affordability, infrastructure, etc., and investigates the barriers preventing EV adoption through examining popular perceptions towards them, including concerns about performance, charging infrastructure, and environmental benefits. This research endeavors to explore the effectiveness of government programs in encouraging EV adoption.
