Abstract

Artificial intelligence is the most burning concept of the 21st century, and it has changed the way companies operate, governments serve, and people lead their lives. Artificial intelligence is used in various areas, such as robotics, natural language, comprehension, medical diagnosis, defense, public transportation, etc.. AI is challenging the superiority of human brains, and it is having a severe impact on human rights, family life, employment, human value, and ethics. As there are tremendous implications of artificial intelligence, it is high time to investigate the relationship between human beings and intelligent machines. On one hand, artificial intelligence produced several benefits in terms of better analysis, categorization of groups, and future prediction; on the other hand, it is impacting the right to privacy, family life, employment, freedom of expression and association. The policymakers must take a call to make a trade-off between human beings and intelligent machines.

Introduction

Artificial intelligence works like an intelligent machine which can think and take decisions promptly. It operates on the basis of an algorithm which instructs the machine to perform a particular type of task. The use of AI may reduce the risk associated with human life in the case of dangerous tasks. Moreover, it can work continuously without any breaks with a minimum defection rate. Artificial intelligence offers multiple benefits; it improves the shopping experience, predicts behavioural patterns, and automates communication between companies and customers through mail, chats, and social media. It is estimated that 85% of all customer interactions will take place through the intelligent machine. AI also provides real-time information as it is needed by various industries such as the public transport industry, manufacturing industry etc. Real-time data is used to track the location of public transport facilities. It is also extensively used for data mining as the extraction of relevant data is very important, keeping in mind the huge volume of the data. Klassner (2002), in his interesting work, integrated robotics with artificial intelligence.

There is various sub-area of artificial intelligence associated with robotics, natural language, comprehension, and medical diagnosis. Robots are mainly associated with mechanical engineering, and it is extensively used in various industry. AI may solve complex problems, predicts the future and can take prompt decision within a fraction of a second. AI demonstrated all its abilities in smartphones, laptops, self-operating vehicles, robots and drones. AI uses algorithms which can execute any required task provided it has access to data with adequate speed. Most interestingly, artificial intelligence can do almost everything that we do; It suggests better holiday destinations, recommends movies which can give better enjoyment, suggest the right job, and it can drive the car more safely than us. More importantly, it can advise whether it is sensible to be the parent, and it can also suggest whether it is wise to stay with the person for a better future or not. AI uses machine learning to draw inferences on the basis of patterns/trends. An algorithm does a better job than a human being and is free from human biases. The human brain also contains complex algorithms, but AI can do a better job than the human brain. Big data complement artificial intelligence which is used to increase the effectiveness of the algorithm. Big data is a large chunk of the data which is collected from various sources. In consumer research, Big data analytics is a very important intervention because it analyzes the preference of customers based on past trends, diagnose the reason behind particular kind of behaviour and predict future behaviour. Now a day’s, big data is used in a variety of industries such as manufacturing, transportation, education, retailing, health care and financial services.

AI is challenging the superiority of human beings, and this leads to multiple consequences. This is high time to investigate the relationship between human beings and machines. AI is increasingly impacting our life ranging from household support to companionship to policing and warfare.

In the future, the distinction between human beings and machines might erode, and machines may also express emotional attachment and anxiety. A humanoid robot named Sophia was developed by Hanson Robotics. Sophia has the capability to participate in the interview. Later on, Sophia became a citizen of Saudi in the year 2017.

Innovation is continued, and Jeff Bezos recently adopted a versatile robotic pet. This robotic pet can open the door and is capable of loading the dishwasher. Human beings developed a machine which is smarter than them; such a machine contains singularity and superintelligence. As computational power is increasing day by day at an exponential pace so it is beyond the imagination what kind of challenges and threats humanoid robots will impose on human civilization. We are living in a world where a lot of intelligent machines are operating. There is a need for rules and policies so that intelligent machines can respect human rights despite the fact that machines are more intelligent than human beings. Artificial intelligence is impacting human rights and value, and it is having short, medium and long-term perspectives.
