Abstract

One significant research gap that restricts understanding of critical stages and early support is the lack of longitudinal studies on mathematical skill development. The majority of studies ignore the way that experience and practice shape skills. This paper aims to explore the cognitive and behavioral traits of individuals with high mathematical proficiency. The study examines mathematical cognition through documentary research, gathering information from scholarly databases and using content and theme analysis to pinpoint areas lacking in advanced mathematical knowledge. Results Along with persistence, resolve, and intrinsic motivation, proficient mathematicians demonstrate high levels of analytical reasoning, pattern recognition, and problem-solving skills. These findings advance our understanding of mathematical aptitude and have implications for talent development and customized instruction. Thus, outstanding mathematicians have strong work ethics and advanced analytical skills. Through focused instruction, mathematical talent is developed according to these observations.
