Abstract

The shift from fossil fuels to cleaner forms of energy sources has become critical to curb the rapid pace of climate change and foster a sustainable approach for the planet. To contribute to the awareness of this significant issue, this chapter explored the significant role clean energy transition plays in the global shift towards a green economy. Clean energy transition, which involves transitioning from dirty fuels such as gasoline and diesel to cleaner forms of energy such as renewable energy (Carley & Konisky, 2020), has been seen as a critical driver of a sustainable green economy (Murshed, 2024). Through a literature review of dominant areas of discourse related to clean energy transition and green economy and interviews with industry experts from the energy sector, the study identifies significant challenges and offers solutions and recommendations to drive the clean energy transition and a sustainable green economy.
