Abstract

This chapter focuses on the following trends: multi-cloud; serverless; edge; AI and machine learning; and hybrid cloud. These advances offer certain advantages and risks, which can be seen even in the sphere of security. Nevertheless, cloud computing has some threats, such as data leakage, configuration errors, limited observability, account compromise, and internal threats. These issues explain why security is critical and why data protection laws like the GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, and PCI DSS matter. Therefore, the objective of this chapter is to discuss and describe risk management, threat analysis, threat modelling and secure measures. Good practices, which include the use of encryption, identity, and access management, network security, and auditing of cloud environments, Thus, based on the observations, the future is likely to see the rising popularity of artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions, the continued growth of the edge computing concept, higher levels of security, and the further penetration of cloud services in developing countries.
