Abstract

The last few years are known as the era of digitization, which also focuses on Industry 4.0. On one side, these latest tools and techniques like IoT, big data analytics, blockchain help the organizations to make better decision making and better future predictions in terms of processes and services; on the other hand, it also leads to the new problem known as cybercrime. Keeping data on the cloud and processing it using cloud-based technology gives more opportunities to hackers to misuse things. Many governments and organizations invest in huge amounts to train their employees and save their data from such cybercrimes. These cybercrimes not only impact organizations but also the females and children of the countries. The purpose of this study is to know the current state of cybercrime in India and to identify the impact of cybercrime on females and children.

Introduction

Cyber security is critical in the information technology industry, and protecting data has emerged as one of the most difficult challenges of our time. Cyber security is a collection of tools, techniques, policies, security measures, security guidelines, risk mitigation strategies, actions, training, good practices, security assurance, and cutting-edge technologies that can be used to protect cyberspace and users' assets (Cheng et al., 2013). According to Techopedia cybercrime can be defined as a type of crime in which one used the computer as an object to do cybercrime. Cybercrimes are carried out against computers or devises directly to damage or disable them, spread malware and steel secret information. In the same way that computer technology and communication will inexorably permeate every facet of human life, cybercrime is evolving at an astounding rate. Mobile device usage is increasing at an exponential rate, which raises the corresponding number of security risks. The threat of cybercrime is increasing at an astronomical rate. Each new Smartphone, laptop, or other mobile device creates a new cyber-attack portal, providing an insecure network access point to the public network. Criminals waiting in the wings with targeted ransomware and attacks utilizing mobile apps are well aware of this depressing paradigm. These new and old innovations, which were once part of the cyber-security expected radar, will also be included in the ongoing problem of missing and compromised computers. As defined by the US Department of Justice, cybercrime now includes any illegal activity involving the use of a computer to store evidence. When we talk about cybercrime, we're referring to any illegal activity that involves computers in some way, shape, or form. While traditional crimes like theft, harassment, intimidation, and extremism are still a problem for individuals and nations, the growing list of cybercrimes includes offences with code-imposed penalties, like network intrusions and computer virus distribution. To put it simply, cybercrime is any criminal act carried out by means of a computer or the Internet, such as stealing a victim's personal information, selling pornography, or harassing them. As the use of technology in people's daily lives continues to grow, so will the incidence of cybercrime. The various types of cybercrimes are shown in figure 1.

Hackers are usually performed such types of unethical tasks by accessing unauthorized transactions and use them for malicious activities. However, the tech companies are updating their software to save their data and transaction to be hacked. But hackers are also making new targets and using the latest tools and techniques for doing different types of cybercrimes. These hackers are not only targeting organizations but also females and children. Many studies have been done related to threat intelligence (Fernandez et al., 2012; Jasper, 2017). The studies also focused on various types of cyber security threats (Tsai et al., 2007; Vande et al., 2014; Moran, 2020; Jaishankar, 2020). Keeping in view the above issues, the focus of this study to understand the status of cyber-crime from an Indian perspective is discussed. This study is focused to understand the trend of cybercrime in India from 2017 to 2019. To understand the scenario of different types of cyber-crimes like Cyber blackmailing/threatening, Fake profiling, Cyber pornography/hosting and publishing obscene sexual materials depicting children, Cyber stalking /Bullying and Internet crimes through online games, etc. The study also discussed the status of the state-wise training to the different people against cyber-crime.
