Abstract

During history, architectural design education was based on typological patterns and local styles such as vernacular architectures, Greek, Roman, Gothic, Ottoman, Baroc, etc. Professional guilds have carried out these types by repetition of their iconic styles. However, developing technologies and changing materials over time also affected this local architectural design education. Architectural education, like other branches of education, includes many complex processes from the first stage to the last stage. In this process, the student's experiences, knowledge and the method followed are very important. The method taught in architectural design studios guides the design and plays a major role in the formation of the design. In this context, the study covers the design process and student studies of “Gazi University Faculty of Architecture, Department of Architecture - Studio 4.” Considering the pros and cons of the design method used in Studio 4, it is clear that it is an important method in terms of providing students with analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
