Abstract

Myths, legends, and fairy tales of different peoples give a variety of versions of the relationship between humans and the world of the dead. These descriptions are not scientific research, but, as can be seen from the text, even in this case there are many common features Myths, legends, and tales of different nations give the most diverse versions of the relationship between man and the world of the dead. Such texts do not have a high rating. Nevertheless, they provide interesting and colorful details about the entrances to the underworld, characterize its guardians, “lay” underground paths, and describe the “topography”, as well as the rulers and inhabitants of the underworld, usually hostile to the heroes of our world. The course of the struggle for the exit from the dungeon and the methods of victory have also been preserved in the popular consciousness. The authors considered it necessary to give a summary of such descriptions.
