Nature-based tourism has seen a surge in popularity in recent decades, driven by a growing demand for outdoor recreation and a desire to experience natural environments. This chapter examines the emerging trends in sustainable nature-based tourism, with a particular focus on the Northeast region of India. Drawing on a global perspective, the analysis highlights the potential for nature-based tourism to contribute to both conservation and sustainable development, provided that appropriate planning, management, and local participation measures are implemented. The chapter then delves into the specific case of Northeast India, a region that has yet to fully capitalize on its ecotourism potential.
